Nearly 700 quilts will be presented at the unique Brno Patchwork Meeting 2024 textile exhibition. Many world premieres will be featured

The best international textile artists will gather in Brno for the largest exhibition of artistic textiles in Central and Eastern Europe from 19 to 21 April 2024. Hall E of the Brno Exhibition Centre will present more than 20 galleries of individuals and groups of artists in its extensive premises. This year under the name Brno Patchwork Meeting (BPM) for the first time, as the previous editions were held under the name PPM Quilt Show Brno.

“Visitors will be able to view in detail nearly 700 quilts by 200 artists from all over the world, covering the whole range of contemporary textile creation – from classic patchwork to modern wall pictures and original art quilts. Many of them were created specifically for this exhibition and will be loaned to other exhibitions across Europe after their Brno premiere”, said Jana Štěrbová, the curator of BPM. As part of the expo, visitors can also take part in workshops with reputed international and Czech lecturers, and in addition to textile techniques, those interested can try out a printing workshop and digital printing. A large area will be occupied by stalls specializing in various textile and art techniques. The largest range of sewing and ironing equipment, as well as fabrics and a varied range of accessories – all concentrated in one place once a year are a magnet for visitors. The originals on display, the personal presence of the creators and the opportunity to meet them create an optimal mix of inspiration and creativity for visitors.

Studio Art Quilt Associates (SAQA) was invited this year with the global Minimalism collection. The competition collection of the French exhibition EPM Tribes is also international. Contemporary German creation is represented in the selection From Tradition to Modernity XIII as well as the original collections by Christine Bünning, Isabella Wiessler and Heide Ulbrecht. International collaboration stands behind the 20 Perspectives collection. A very attractive collection of modern quilts will be brought in by the Dutch group Colorminds as well as their fellow native Hilde van Schaardenburg with her new works and textile creations. Beatrice Bouche from France will present a combination of quilt and painting. Sylwia Ignatowska from Poland, a multiple winner of the PPM/BPM competitions, will offer her comprehensive gallery. The guest country in 2024 is Austria with 2 selections by members of the Austrian Guild. The star of the Czech classics for 2024 is Mrs. Marcela Kočířová. Czech authors – Eva Bovoli with a cross-section of her work and Irena Zemanová with the Wabi Sabi gallery together with Věra Englichová’s Ecoprint will offer innovative options and modern techniques. Bohemia Patchwork Club will exhibit the Autumn and Baroque collections.

The international competition collections on the themes of ZERO WASTE and SCRAP will be judged by an expert jury. Visitors will also see individual Czech and international quilts. Curator Ann Hill’s collection on the topic of Alzheimer and quilt with a follow-up lecture has an extraordinary reach.

BPM has traditionally given space to charity projects. This year, in collaboration with the Bohemia Patchwork Club, focuses on pillows for St. Elizabeth’s Hospice in Brno, with members donating more than 50 pieces with autumn motifs.

Brno Patchwork Meeting is one of the world’s most visited textile exhibitions, ranking 4th in Europe. The 2024 edition is the next one in Brno, with an ever-increasing scope in the region.

The Brno Patchwork Meeting will take place in Hall E of the Brno Exhibition Centre from Friday 19 April to Sunday 21 April 2024. Quasi 700 trapunte saranno presentate all’esclusiva mostra di arte tessile Brno Patchwork Meeting 2024. Verranno presentate numerose anteprime mondiali

I migliori artisti tessili internazionali si riuniranno a Brno per la più grande mostra di tessuti artistici nell’Europa centrale e orientale dal 19 al 21 aprile 2024. Il padiglione E del Centro fieristico di Brno presenterà più di 20 gallerie di singoli e gruppi di artisti nella sua vasta esposizione premesse. Quest’anno per la prima volta sotto il nome di Brno Patchwork Meeting (BPM), poiché le edizioni precedenti si sono svolte sotto il nome di PPM Quilt Show Brno.

“I visitatori potranno vedere in dettaglio quasi 700 trapunte di 200 artisti provenienti da tutto il mondo, che coprono l’intera gamma della creazione tessile contemporanea, dal patchwork classico agli arazzi murali moderni e alle trapunte artistiche originali. Molte di queste sono state create appositamente per questa mostra, e dopo la prima a Brno verranno prestate ad altre mostre in tutta Europa”, ha affermato la curatrice del BPM Jana Štěrbová. Nell’ambito della fiera i visitatori potranno anche partecipare ai workshop con rinomati relatori internazionali e cechi e gli interessati potranno provare, oltre alle tecniche tessili, anche il laboratorio di stampa e la stampa digitale. Un’ampia area sarà occupata da stand specializzati nelle varie tecniche tessili e artistiche. La più vasta gamma di attrezzature per cucire e stirare, nonché tessuti e una vasta gamma di accessori, tutti concentrati in un unico posto una volta all’anno saranno a disposizione dei visitatori. Gli originali esposti, la presenza personale dei creatori e l’opportunità di incontrarli creano un mix ottimale di ispirazione e creatività per i visitatori.
Studio Art Quilt Associates (SAQA) è stato invitato quest’anno con la collezione globale Minimalism. Internazionale è anche la collezione del concorso della mostra francese EPM Tribes. La creatività tedesca contemporanea è rappresentata nella selezione From Tradition to Modernity XIII, così come nelle collezioni originali di Christine Bünning, Isabella Wiessler e Heide Ulbrecht. Anche per la collezione 20 Perspectives è presente il contributo internazionale. Il gruppo olandese Colorminds e la loro connazionale Hilde van Schaardenburg presenteranno una collezione molto interessante di trapunte moderne con i suoi nuovi lavori e creazioni tessili. Beatrice Bouche dalla Francia presenterà una combinazione di trapunta e pittura. Sylwia Ignatowska dalla Polonia, plurivincitrice dei concorsi PPM/BPM, offrirà la sua galleria completa. Il paese ospite nel 2024 è l’Austria con 2 selezioni da parte dei membri di Patchwork Gilde Austria. La stella delle opere classiche ceche per il 2024 è la signora Marcela Kočířová. Gli autori cechi, Eva Bovoli con uno spaccato del suo lavoro, Irena Zemanová con la galleria Wabi Sabi ed Ecoprint di Věra Englichová, offriranno opzioni innovative e tecniche moderne. Bohemia Patchwork Club esporrà le collezioni Autumn e Baroque.
Le collezioni del concorso internazionale sui temi ZERO WASTE e SCRAP saranno giudicate da una giuria di esperti. I visitatori potranno vedere anche singole trapunte ceche e internazionali. La collezione della curatrice Ann Hill sul tema Alzheimer and quilt, con una conferenza di follow-up, ha una portata straordinaria.
BPM ha tradizionalmente dato spazio a progetti di beneficenza. Quest’anno, in collaborazione con il Bohemia Patchwork Club, l’attenzione si concentra sui cuscini per l’Ospizio di Santa Elisabetta a Brno, con i membri che donano più di 50 pezzi con motivi autunnali.

Brno Patchwork Meeting è una delle fiere tessili più visitate al mondo, classificandosi al 4° posto in Europa. L’edizione del 2024 è la prossima al BVV di Brno, con una portata sempre maggiore nella regione.
