You call them if you want (e)motions

Mozion s. f. [for years. Motion -onia, the. to move "to move", part. pass. motion; the sign. 2 follows the English. motion].
Nel post precedente I told you that I was totally immersed in the white sea of the Florentine trapunto, when the colors of the foliage autumn knocked on my window and made me remember that there is a world of colors, indeed, they warned me that I was missing that ephemeral spectacle.
A glance was enough to make me want to paint with fabric again, and so I made that blanket for my sewing machine. In the following brief overview of images you will find proof of how spectacular autumn can be, at least what happened to me in fate, and how impossible it was even to think of resisting him. A coat for the winter

A year has passed, indeed even more, since I took a trip to visit an exhibition, in ottobre, ad Althofen, then nothing more.
I had Sitges planned, Prague, Birmingham, Karlsruhe, Toulouse, Val d’Argent, instead the Chinese plague has destroyed programs, initiatives, and lives.
It goes without saying that even the mood suffers, and as a result, inspiration and energy also suffer. Così, just so as not to lose the hand, I decided to waste time with a long Florentine trapunto work, even if rhizoarthrosis takes care of it to keep me in check when I exaggerate.
For a while, in short, I only work on white, on many shades of white, put, ivory, ancient, magnolia, eccetera, and at some point I felt nostalgia for other colors, also because I am surrounded by a foliage very showy autumnal. Continua a leggere

Caution is never too much

Non so voi, but I am quite alarmed by the finding that the Coronavirus pandemic has no intention of leaving us alone.
The Festival of Quilts in Birmingham has already been skipped, as well as Patchwork Sitges in Catalonia, il Carrefour Européen du Patchwork in Alsazia, the Prague Patchwork Meeting in Bohemia, and who knows how many other exhibitions that I don't know yet. There would be the Austrian Quilt Fest in October, ma, as the title of the post, I don't feel like taking risks.
Apparently there are those who do not consider it dangerous to organize events of strong appeal, even if these events take place indoors, with what might ensue.
In this regard, I refer you below to an article in the blog ultimelune.it , where some observations are made that should make us reflect.

The magnificent seven

Some time ago I happened to leaf through a magazine where the project was presented to make a fabric butterfly as if it were an origami.
The article was interesting, it's a pity that, come spesso capita, the instructions were anything but detailed, and indeed I had to work hard to figure it out, since in addition to the description which is absolutely not exhaustive, in the photographs accompanying the article a fundamental step had been skipped.
Only by going fishing here and there up internet I was able to fill that gap.
Now that niet exhibits, niet contests, travel niet, there is nothing left for me to do but play a little’ with the cloth, and I would have thought of making gods cotillon to give to friends. Continua a leggere

Niente da fare

TravelThis spring's schedule was tempting.
It started with a trip to Catalonia, for the sixteenth edition of the International Patchwork Festival, a Sitges, a beautiful corner of the world near Barcelona.
Then my travel agency would drive me off to Andalusia, to Granada, to admire the Alhambra and taste the local delicacies.
Madrid would follow, art and history galore, and the suggestive Toledo. From there then off to Vienna for some interesting galleries that I was always promised to visit.
Dulcis in fundo, Bohemia was waiting for me, for the Prague Patchwork Meeting, where one of my works would finally be exhibited.
In program, in late April, an escape to Beaujolais also awaited me, for the Biennale of Textile Art, with beautiful quilt made by artists from all over the world, and among these there was also one of my favorites, or Irina Voronina.
