Stelio on stage again

You already know that I get help from mine when writing lyrics sherpa / tourist agency / webmaster / photographer / ecc. , and if you want to know more I refer you to postApocalisse (o dell’uomo invisibile)” always present in this blog.
What you may not know is that he enjoys writing, both prose and poetry, and who manifests this literary streak on his blog www.ultimelune.it.
Just as the textile artist feels the desire to give a concrete and permanent form to his artistic imagination, so he, every now and again, find the courage to report on paper too (o su Kindle) what until then was only part of the vast ocean of byte named internet.
Once again it is a collection of short stories, but less melancholy than usual, or at least not all.
Da_non_credere_01Since there is no hope of finding a publishing house willing to print the texts of an unknown emeritus, as with the previous books, he took the path of self-publishing, once again on the platform Amazon, and this is the link to the relevant page, otherwise known as link.

It all starts with a thread

Show_Delise
The cotton thread, made of silk, di poliestere, It is made of nylon only, and forgive me for the adverb “solamente”, the tail of a very long and elaborate process that ultimately manifests itself in an object of textile art.
Many other threads are at the origin of those works which then make a fine display, whatever their location.
The first and most important is our train of thought, the one with which we fool ourselves in order to follow its not always understandable path, that appears almost out of nowhere, with unfathomable rules and promise, or the threat, to never end.
Then there is the thread of our memories, a sea of memories. Sometimes that surface that is too agitated by daily events calms down, the water becomes clear, almost transparent, and so the light allows us to partially glimpse what that sea jealously preserves, fragments of the past, sometimes dark like submerged rocks, the angular and sharp shadows of disappointments, sometimes alive and brilliant, quicksilver, like the happy events that life sometimes offers.
The strangest thread of all, but also the most important one, it's the one of dreams. With that the most elaborate plots are created, the most fascinating compositions, the sails are weaved that will carry the delicate vessel of our imagination out to sea. Delicate because it will encounter a thousand vicissitudes, technical difficulties, unsatisfactory materials, inevitable errors, dubbi amletici, e, above all things, the chronic lack of time. Only if we are firmly at the helm will we be able to reach the desired shore of a textile work that satisfies our tastes and expectations.. Continua a leggere

Treviso 2023

Treviso2023.
Wednesday, 1st November, the only day of the week that promised not to rain, so we trusted the weather forecast and took the train to Treviso. We got lucky three times, the first because Jupiter Pluvius actually didn't show up for the whole day, the second because with Trenitaglia you know when you leave but you don't know when you arrive, the third because the exhibition has returned to the prestigious venue of Ca’ of Noal, and finally the works could be admired in the right spaces.
I would then say that it is time to take a look at some of the works on display, at least to those that particularly struck me. Continua a leggere

Florentine quilt

P1140926In July we took a trip to Tuscany. One of the motivations was dictated by my participation sherpa / photographer / webmaster / tourist agency / driver / ecc. in a literary contest (with unexpected results), but while we were at it we decided to visit Arezzo and Siena, surroundings included of course.
You can find a sort of summary of our trip on his blog ultimelune.it, and more precisely in postTravel notes T2”. More than tourist information (there are special guides for those), the article reports some impressions, beautiful and less beautiful, of those places, plus some tidbits of information that may perhaps be missed radar of organized trips.
However in Arezzo I could not miss a visit to the Pieve di Santa Maria Assunta, and not for religious or historical reasons, but to admire live the polychrome sculptures of the archivolt of the main portal that make up the "Cycle of the months".
It just so happens that nearby, in Castiglion Fiorentino to be precise, many years ago I learned the ancient technique of the Florentine quilt, and among the various works in which I have used this art there is also the reproduction of the sculpture which refers to the month of September.
Here is the photo we took in Arezzo,P1050384
and this below is my Florentine quilt.
September
I'm not going to explain this technique to you in detail right now, it would be a rather long affair, however, it is possible to learn it thanks to Rosalba Pepi's book, or perhaps going to her in Tuscany to take one of her courses (and not just Florentine quilting…).
Vi is going, further information on the sculptures of the archivolt can always be found on postTravel notes T2″.
Enjoy

Devaluation

P1050241I sometimes complain about the choice of "remote" locations for textile art exhibitions, places that are difficult to reach by public transport, or invisible even to the most modern GPS tracker, instead this time I have to admit that getting to the exhibition venue was relatively simple, as long as you don't suffer from naupathy, that nuisance better known as “seasickness”. In fact, the Artlife for the World Contemporary Art Events association has chosen the island of Torcello for the "TerraCielo" event, an exhibition of installations that refer to environmental art.
The relative proximity of the exhibition venue, added to the curiosity for absolutely non-traditional works, he convinced me to take a train to Venice, and then the vaporetto to Torcello, on a hot day in July (what not to do for art…).
Tutto bene allora? Ovviamente no. Continua a leggere

PPM 2023

341512459_1455918538278149_9185444930607691383_nWorse than a Renfe train, this time we have truly accumulated an unforgivable delay, and precisely for an article that I wanted to publish quickly.
It happens that the deities of information technology are not benevolent, and indeed, as I reported in post previous, a serious problem with the computer motherboard had left us stranded. Unfortunately the replacement could not be found, and after some failed attempts to repair it we decided to carry out a revamping of the car, an update of thehardware essentially, replacing the card, processor and memories. Certo, we would have done it sooner by buying a new PC, but our nature always pushes us towards recovery, and this computer is also a kind of patchwork electronic, without forgetting the advantage of having spent less than a third of what we would have had to leave at the checkout of a computer store.

Bene, let's move on to the narrative of our expedition to Moravia.
Actually no, we stop first in Vienna. Continua a leggere
